Today at 21:55: “Qarabag” – “Sporting”
The UEFA Europa League round of 16 line-up will be decided this week, with some huge sides battling to reach the next round of the competition. Who will stay in the hunt to lift the heaviest of the UEFA club competition trophies and what records could be set?
Round of 32, second legs
BATE pulled off the biggest shock last week, beating Arsenal 1-0 in Belarus. Impressive, but a sterner test awaits in London. Can Aleksandr Hleb, the 37-year-old who played for the Gunners from 2005–08, help his side to a famous upset?
Shakhtar go to Germany to take on UEFA Europa League entertainers Eintracht Frankfurt. The pressure will be on the visitors after the first instalment ended 2-2, but given they played 79 minutes with ten men there's room for optimism.
Shakhtar face the added complication of being on their domestic winter break – likewise Zenit and Krasnodar. The Russian clubs looked rusty against Fenerbahçe (0-1) and Leverkusen (0-0), yet with another week in their legs there could be a surprise or two.
Dinamo Zagreb have struggled for fluency since their winter break though they will be confident of overturning a 2-1 defecit against Plzeň on home turf, where they are unbeaten in 11.
Highlights: Rennes 3-3 Betis
Real Betis and Rennes cooked up a treat in France last week, sharing six goals despite the Spaniards enjoying 75% possession! More of the same, anyone?
Sevilla 2-0 Lazio (agg: 3-0)
Highlights: Shakhtar 2-2 Frankfurt
Highlights: Malmö 1-2 Chelsea
Chelsea v Malmö (2-1)
Benfica v Galatasaray (2-1)
Internazionale v Rapid Wien (1-0)
Genk v Slavia Praha (0-0)
Leverkusen v Krasnodar (0-0)
